Duarte Crime Blotter for the Week of November 17-23, 2019

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of November 17 – 23, 2019:        
 
November 17, 2019

  • No significant activity.
 
November 18, 2019
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A grand theft auto was reported from the corner of Beckville Street and Park Rose Avenue. Sometime between 10:45 PM on November 17th and 12:45 AM on the 20th, person’s unknown stole a 2015 Honda Accord that was left running with the keys inside. The vehicle was recovered in the city of Pomona.  
 
  • Residential Burglary:
At approximately 12:15 PM, deputies responded to a home in the 1900 block of Royal Oaks Drive, regarding an audible burglary alarm. Upon arrival, they found the front door wide open and the rear slider glass door shattered. No suspects were located inside. It was determined the suspect’s used a brick to shatter the sliding glass door and exited the home through the front door. The homeowner arrived and noticed money had been stolen, but was unsure if anything else was missing.   
      
November 19, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
At approximately 4:15 PM, a deputy contacted an adult male on a bicycle in the 1800 block of Mountain Avenue, regarding a traffic infraction. As the deputy was approaching the bicyclist, he observed him turn his back to him and drop what appeared to be a small plastic baggie. The bicyclist was detained and the baggie was recovered. After further investigation, the bicyclist was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. 
 
November 20, 2019
  • Vehicle Burglary:
A vehicle burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Cabrillo Drive. Sometime between 6:30 PM on November 19th and 7:50 AM on the 20th, person’s unknown shattered the driver’s side window with an unknown object and stole the victim’s purse and a pair of sunglasses.

November 23, 2019
  • Petty Theft:
A petty theft was reported in the 2000 block of Chesson Street. Sometime between the month of October and today’s date, person’s unknown stole the registration sticker from the victim’s license plate.      
     
 
CRIME PREVENTION TIP
 
With the holidays approaching, please be aware of your surroundings when out shopping.  Thefts from vehicles are crimes of opportunity and occur quickly by criminals smashing a window or simply checking the door handle for an unlocked vehicle.  Don’t become a target.  When leaving your vehicle unattended, please lock your doors and remove all valuables from your vehicle.
