Cat Killed after being Shot with Arrow

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 and a concerned resident has pitched in $500 for information that helps identify the person responsible for shooting an arrow into a cat causing the feline’s death earlier this month.

About 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, a Las Cruces Animal Control officer was dispatched to the report of a critically injured cat on the 700 block of north Miranda Street. The officer arrived to find a cat with an arrow lodged in its body. The white and gray cat was transported to the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley where it was humanely euthanized.

Residents near where the cat was found indicated the feline was likely feral and frequently roamed the neighborhood. Nobody has claimed ownership of the cat.

Anyone with information that can help identify the person responsible for shooting the cat is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be provided through the Las Cruces Crime Stoppers app, “P3 TIPS.” The app is available through the App Store on most devices.

Those who provide tips through Crime Stoppers do not have to leave their own name and will remain completely anonymous.
