* WHAT...South winds veering to northwest, sustained 25 to 40 mph, gusts between 50 and 70 mph. Strongest gusts are expected along ridges and mountain passes, but gusts between 50 and 60 mph possible even in coastal areas that are typically sheltered.

* WHERE...Coastal low elevations, and interior high elevations of Humboldt county, plus interior high elevations of southern Trinity and northern Mendocino counties. This includes summits along Highway 101, 36 and 299, and the Humboldt Bay area.

* WHEN...From 1 PM Tuesday to 4 AM PST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
