Traffic Stop Leads to Stolen Firearm

On Saturday, November 23, 2019 at approximately 10:00 am, Officer Spillner was on patrol in the area of Travis Blvd. at Gateway Blvd.  Officer Spillner pulled a vehicle over after it failed to stop for the posted stop sign.  The vehicle was occupied by two individuals.

As Officer Spillner approached the driver’s window, he could smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.  After further investigation, it was found that the driver of the vehicle was driving on a suspended license. Two occupants were removed from the vehicle and detained as officers performed a search of the vehicle prior to the vehicle being towed.

As the front passenger was being removed from the vehicle, Officer Spillner noticed the bottom of a semi-automatic handgun protruding from the passenger’s jacket pocket. The passenger was safely detained while officers removed the illegally possessed 9mm firearm from the jacket.  The illegally possessed firearm had been reported stolen out of Arizona.

Arrested were 21-year-old Richmond resident, Mahogany McCrory, and 30 year-old San Francisco resident, Vincent Washington.  Both subjects were booked into Solano County Jail on several weapon violation charges.

Thanks to Officer Spillner’s observations he was able to remove another dangerous, illegally possessed firearm from our streets.
