Earlier today, the Moraga Police were contacted by St. Mary’s College Public Safety officials regarding a suspicious social media post involving a possible threat towards St. Mary’s College.  An investigation was initiated into the social media post and the source of the post. While the investigation was in progress, false reports of an active shooter on campus were made.  These reports were found to be erroneous and there was never any active shooter incident on the campus.
 
However, the investigation into the social media post continued and Moraga Police were able to identify the person who created the post.  Officers ascertained that the person posted photos that were not connected to or intended to be a threat.  Although the investigation into the social media post is continuing, at this point, officers do not believe there is any danger or threat to the St. Mary’s College campus nor to any students or staff as a result of this social media post or from the person who created the post.
