Robbery Suspect Arrested

A fifth male has been arrested for his involvement in a series of robberies and thefts that targeted Asian and Elderly women in San Leandro.

On October 29, 2019, at 10:58am, SLPD officers responded to the report of a strong-arm robbery that occurred in the parking lot of Costco at 1900 Davis Street.  When they arrived, a 56-year-old Hispanic female victim told officers she was pushed to the ground as she was getting into her car and that a suspect ran off with her purse.  At the scene, Officers interviewed witnesses and quickly obtained a detailed description of the suspect vehicle, a dark blue newer model Kia.

A SLPD Detective heard the robbery being dispatched and immediately drove to 98th Avenue and East 14th Street in Oakland in an attempt to intercept the suspect vehicle.  Within minutes, the detective located the Kia and, after a vehicle pursuit, lost it in the area of 83rd Avenue and Hillside Street in Oakland.  A search of the area was conducted, and the Kia was located, abandoned, in the 8300 block of Hillside Street.  A search of the 2019 Kia Sportage led to the recovery of some of the victim’s belongings and evidence that provided identifying information on a potential suspect.

Detectives continued to thoroughly investigate this case by following up on investigative leads and ultimately gathered enough factual evidence to support their belief that 19-year-old, Antioch resident Alonzo Moore, was the suspect who committed this robbery.

On November 20, 2019, SLPD detectives located and arrested Moore in the 1300 block of 98th Avenue for his involvement in this robbery.  Detectives searched Moore and found evidence that linked him to this robbery and at least ten additional robberies and thefts that have been reported in San Leandro and surrounding cities.  The victims in each of those robberies were women who ranged in age from 56 to 92 years old.

Moore was arrested for robbery and transported to Santa Rita Jail where he is being held without bail.

Detectives are continuing to follow up on all investigative leads in order to locate additional victims and to identify additional suspects, if any.  Please contact the San Leandro Police Department Criminal Investigation Division with any information regarding this case and/or suspect.
