Deputies investigate a school threat at Alta Loma High posted on social media & arrest a student for criminal threats

LOCATION: Alta Loma High School
SUSPECT: 15-year-old male, resident of Rancho Cucamonga
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, the School Resource Officer (SRO) for Alta Loma High School received a tip of a possible threat posted on a social media account. The SRO learned several concerning messages were posted on Twitter between Monday, November 18th, and Tuesday, November 19th. These messages clearly referred to committing a school shooting.
The SRO identified the Twitter account holder as a 15-year-old male student at Alta Loma High School. The suspect was contacted and interviewed.
Deputies served a search warrant at the student’s residence in Rancho Cucamonga and there were no firearms in the home. Additional electronic evidence was collected. Following the search warrant, the suspect was arrested and booked at Central Juvenile Hall for PC 422- Criminal Threats.
There are no additional known threats to the school at this time.
