A 14-year-old Hook Jr. High School student is arrested after lighting an M80 on campus

LOCATION: 15000 Hook Blvd., Victorville
SUSPECT(S): 14-year old male
SUMMARY: On November 20, 2019, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to Hook Jr. High School for report of an explosion.
Within minutes of arriving, deputies discovered a 14-year old student had lit an M80 and dropped it in a trash can. The device exploded, making a loud sound and sending trash and debris flying into the air.
A witness and video surveillance confirmed the suspect and he was taken into custody. He was arrested and booked at High Desert Juvenile Detention Center for possession of a destructive device. No one was injured during the incident.
