VICTIM: Needles Sand Sharks Swim Team

SUMMARY: On Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 8:00 p.m., deputies from the Needles Police and Sheriff's Department responded to a theft call on the 1700 block of J Street in the city of Needles. Deputies received information the Needles Sand Sharks Swim Team was missing approximately $30,000. After compiling six years of bank records, coupled with interviews, it was determined John Lusk and Janay Lusk, who were entrusted with the Sand Sharks bank account since 2013, had misused the account for personal gain. On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at 11:14 a.m., Detective Abell & Detective Preston made contact with John Lusk on the 1200 block of Safari Drive in the City of Needles, where he was arrested for Embezzlement. John Lusk was taken into custody and transported to the Colorado River Station for booking. John Lusk is being held on $60,000. bail, pending a court hearing. Detectives attempted to locate Janay Lusk but were informed she appeared at the San Bernardino Superior Court in Victorville, California with her attorney early Wednesday morning.
