Threat to Local High School
On the afternoon of November 18, 2019, the Simi Valley Police Department was made aware of a potential threat which had possibly been written on a classroom wall at Royal High School. A search of the school revealed no written threats and after interviews with students, this threat was unsubstantiated.
On the evening of November 19, 2019, the Simi Valley Police Department was again notified of social media posts involving another possible threat at Royal High School. Once made aware of this situation, SVPD Officers immediately began following up on the matter. After our initial investigation and interviews with the involved parties, we found that these posts were the result of student rumors regarding Monday afternoon's incident and not a new threat. At this time the Simi Valley Police Department has determined that there is no credible or active threat to the school.
Due to the extensive community interest in this matter, parents and students can expect to see a visible Police presence at the school Wednesday morning to ensure there are no additional concerns.
The Simi Valley Police Department would like to thank our community for their patience while we investigated these incidents, and remind everyone that "if you see something, say something".
