Incident Summary

Petaluma PD officers were dispatched to the Petaluma Village Premium Outlets for the report of a suspect passing counterfeit currency at several stores within the complex.  Staff believed the suspect was the same from the previous night as well.  Officers saw the suspect inside a clothing store and advised employees of the circumstances.  The suspect attempted to purchase merchandise with counterfeit bills but was denied.  Once the suspect exited the store, officers detained him.  He was identified as David Burr and found to be on felony probation with an extensive criminal history.

Burr was found to be in possession of suspected counterfeit bills, suspected stolen merchandise, and receipts from various stores.  He was also positively identified as the same suspect from the previous night.  A search of his residence revealed suspected counterfeit bills totaling several hundred dollars, suspected stolen merchandise, and controlled substance.  He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail. The case will be forwarded to the US Secret Service, who oversees counterfeit currency matters.
