SUBJECT: Vehicle Burglar Arrested

LOCATION: Monmouth Road in the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township

OFFICERS INVOLVED: Officers Woodley, Stenger, Stephens, Sergeants Kelesidis and Malone, Detectives Legg and Carter

ACCUSED: Edward J. McGrath 33 year old male of Red Bank, NJ

NARRATIVE: On November 12, 2019 at approximately 12:22 am, patrol officers were dispatched to Monmouth Road for a report of an unknown subject inside the caller’s vehicle. The caller approached the subject who then fled north on Monmouth Road. Officers Stephens and Stenger located a subject in the parking lot of the 7-11 who matched the description provided by the victim. After a brief investigation, it was determined that the subject that was detained, now identified as Edward J. McGrath, had committed a burglary to the victim’s vehicle. McGrath was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. McGrath was found to be in possession of several items which are believed to be proceeds of other burglaries. McGrath was interviewed by Detectives Legg and Carter. McGrath was charged with Burglary and Theft, he also had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute. Please remember to lock your vehicles and remove all valuables from view.
