Traffic Enforcement Effort - Nov 6
On November 6, 2019, the Danville Police Department, in cooperation with Lafayette PD and the California High Patrol conducted a traffic enforcement saturation event in Danville.
While the emphasis of the saturation was on the downtown area, traffic enforcement was up all over town. Over the course of the four hour event, officers issued a total of 63 citations. The citations were issued over the following infractions:
18 - Cell phone usage
10 - Stop sign/signal violations
10 - Pedestrian/misc
25 - Speed violation
What prompted this enforcement action was a recent increase in vehicle collisions in the downtown area. Additionally, with the holiday season approaching, which often brings with it an increase in motorist and pedestrian traffic downtown. In order to avert future potential collisions, offers were on the lookout for distracted driving, insufficient stops, speed, and pedestrian right of way.
The Danville Police Department encourages residents to be mindful behind the wheel, avoid distractions, and maintain a safe and legal speed.
