Man Arrested for Cruelty to Animals

Suffolk County Police last night arrested a man for abusing dogs at his Lake Ronkonkoma home.
 
Police responded to a 911 call reporting animal abuse at 8:35 p.m. Upon arrival, police found evidence that Thomas Benjamin choked and repeatedly kicked three dogs.
 
Sixth Precinct officers, in cooperation with Suffolk County SPCA, charged Benjamin with two counts of Animal Cruelty under the New York State Agricultural Law.
 
The Town of Brookhaven Animal Control responded and took possession of the dogs.
 
Benjamin, 56, of 9 Ave. J, Apt. A, was issued a Field Appearance Ticket and will be arraigned at a later date.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
