Four Hour Power Outage Scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2019 for the City of White Cloud, Everett, and Sherman Townships

WHEN:   Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 2am to 6am
If necessary, in case of weather or other condition, a backup date is set for the same time on Sunday, November 3, 2019.  
WHAT:    Consumers Energy will take a scheduled four-hour outage early Saturday, November 2, 2019 to make electric reliability improvements in and around the city of White Cloud, Everett, and Sherman Townships. .
WHERE:    In the area generally from Washington Street (north), Catalpa Ave (east), 8th Street (south), and Parson Ave (west).

Approximate number of affected customers are 1,005. This number reflects the number of active electric meters that will be affected not the number of physical structures. Consumers Energy has mailed postcards to the affected customers.

  • Keep freezers and refrigerators closed. The refrigerator will keep food cold for about four hours. A full freezer will keep the temperature for about 48 hours. Use coolers with ice if necessary. Monitor temperatures with a thermometer.
  • Maintain food supplies that do not require refrigeration.
  • Avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Generators, camp stoves, or charcoal grills should always be used outdoors and at least 20 feet away from windows. Never use a gas stovetop or oven to heat your home.
  • Check on your neighbors. Older adults and young children are especially vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
  • Go to a community location with power if heat or cold is extreme.
  • Turn off or disconnect appliances, equipment, or electronics. Power may return with momentary “surges” or “spikes” that can cause damage.
