Advisory

Active Shooter Drill at Burlington Township High School

The Burlington Township Police Department, the Burlington Township Fire Department, the Endeavor Emergency Squad, the Burlington Township Office of Emergency Management, and the Burlington Township School District are presently conducting an active shooter drill at the Burlington Township High School.

This is a closed exercise, which means that only authorized persons will be permitted on the High School/Hopkins Building grounds until approximately 1:00 PM.  Signs, barricades, and cones have been deployed around the property to cordon off the area, and uniformed officers are stationed to maintain security.

Additionally, since the drill is limited to the grounds of the High School and the adjacent Hopkins Building, we do not anticipate the drill will impact traffic on any of the surrounding streets.

Lastly, if you are travelling through the area while this drill is taking place, you may notice several police/fire/EMS personnel and vehicles moving around the school property, simulating their response to the threat.  Remember, this is only a drill, and there is no actual danger.  Nonetheless, if anybody has concerns about whether something they witness is part of the drill or a real emergency, please contact the police department at 609-386-2019.
