Active Shooter Drill at Burlington Township High School on November 7, 2019

On Thursday November 7, 2019, between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM, the Burlington Township Police Department, the Burlington Township Fire Department, the Endeavor Emergency Squad, the Burlington Township Office of Emergency Management, and the Burlington Township School District will be conducting an active shooter drill at the Burlington Township High School.  This drill is one piece in the continuing effort by your local emergency services personnel and school district to prepare for and respond to these types of incidents.
This will be a closed exercise, which means that only authorized persons will be permitted on the High School/Hopkins Building grounds between the hours of 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM.  Signs, barricades, and cones will be deployed around the property to cordon off the area, and uniformed officers will be stationed to maintain security.
Additionally, since the drill will be limited to the grounds of the High School and the adjacent Hopkins Building, we do not anticipate the drill will impact traffic on any of the surrounding streets.
Lastly, if you are travelling through the area while this drill is taking place, you may notice several police/fire/EMS personnel and vehicles moving around the school property, simulating their response to the threat.  Remember, this is only a drill, and there is no actual danger.  Nonetheless, if anybody has concerns about whether something they witness is part of the drill or a real emergency, please contact the police department at 609-386-2019.
