INCIDENT SUMMARY:

Animal Cruelty Suspect Arrested

On October 27, 2019 a citizen reported seeing a subject abusing a small dog in the area of Avocet Drive in Redwood Shores. The suspect was captured on a nearby security camera that depicted him pulling the dog by its leash then swinging it into the air and forcefully slamming it to the ground multiple times while he recorded it on his cell phone.

On October 29, 2019, Redwood City Police detectives sought the assistance of the public in identifying the suspect and released digital images of him via social media. Detectives received thousands of tips and, with the public’s assistance, were able to identify the suspect as Michael Fore, a 30-year-old East Palo Alto resident.

Based on the suspect’s identification, Redwood City Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the Suspect for felony Animal Cruelty. Continuing the investigation, on October 30, 2019, Redwood City detectives located the Suspect at his residence in East Palo Alto and attempted to take him into custody with the assistance of the East Palo Alto Police Department.

Michael Fore was later booked into the San Mateo County Jail for felony Animal Cruelty. Detectives located the dog’s owner, who was unaware of the incident. The dog was found to be safe and showed no signs of lasting injury and is doing well.
