Moraga Police were just advised of a scam in which a resident received a telephone call from a person calling themselves Allen Brooks.  This person identified himself as a Moraga Police Officer and told the resident they had a warrant and needed to call US Legal Support Services at 415-230-0070.  When the resident called, they were told they needed to pay $1800.  Interestingly, US Legal Support Services is a real company, but this is not their number and they do not appear to be involved.

This is a scam!!  The Moraga Police does not have anyone named Allen Brooks employed nor do we call people on the phone to collect money.  Additionally, we have never heard of US Legal Support Services and do not do business with them.  Criminal warrants are held by the Superior Court, not a private company.

If you receive a call like this, know that it is fake.  DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY!!!  Please report the call to the Moraga Police.  Remember that Moraga Police officers do call residents while investigating incidents, but will not ask for money or attempt to collect any money.  If you have a question about a call you have received, please call the Moraga Police at (925) 888-7055 or via Dispatch at (925) 284-5010.
