Latest PSPS Outage Map for Danville

PG&E is still planning at this time to move forward with a Public Safety Power Shutoff starting tomorrow. This is based on forecasts of a high wind event. Overall, there will be an estimated 850,000 customers affected. In Danville, there will be just under 1,300. I have shared a map we made based on the information we have from PG&E regarding where those residences are in Danville. The map is also on the Town of Danville's website at https://www.danville.ca.gov/DocumentCenter/View/3602/ShutOffMap10_26_19-Blue-Areas

Please bear in mind that this map is a general location of the outages. Residents should still enter their address on PG&E's site to be certain whether or not their homes will be impacted. That map is at https://psps.ss.pge.com

Based on updated information from PG&E, the shutoff could begin as early as 7PM, with the outage expected to be done by 2:00 pm Monday. With that in mind, we encourage residents to plan ahead and be mindful of the situation. Some ways to do that include:

1. Plan ahead. As we've mentioned, having a plan and taking time to be ready will make the situation much easier to get through.
2. Avoid darkened areas when possible: if you are out and about, plan your travelling to avoid areas without power. Traffic signals will be out, causing longer travel times.
3. Plan for delays: On Monday in particular, when going to work or school, give yourself plenty of extra time to reach your destination. Darkened intersections are four-way stops, this will mean traffic will take much longer to get through those intersections. For parents taking kids to school, please talk to friends and neighbors about establishing car pools to reduce the number of cars on the roadway.
4. Check on neighbors/elderly friends: It will be warm this weekend, so if you have friends who are without power, offer to store their refrigerated foods if you have space, or provide shelter if it gets really warm. Make sure elderly acquaintances are ok and not being adversely affected by the outage.

The most important thing to remember is that we are experiencing this as a community, and working together as a community we will get through this (and any other) PSPS events with a minimum of disruption.
