INCIDENT: ASSAULT WITH A FIREARM

LOCATION: Cobalt Rd./ Aster, in Victorville

SUSPECT: Rudy Tovar, 36-years-old, resident of Victorville

VICTIM: 16-year-old male, resident of Victorville

SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 9:45 am, the 16-year-old victim was riding his bicycle in the area of Cobalt Rd/ Aster Rd. The suspect approached the victim wielding a semi automatic handgun and began yelling obscenities at the victim about riding his bicycle in the area. The suspect struck the victim on the left side of his head with the pistol and the weapon simultaneously discharged. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault. Through investigation, Deputies Kleveno and Vanden Bossche were able to locate the suspects red Ford F150 at his residence about a 1/2 mile north of the incident location. The suspect was identified as Rudy Tover and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Monday, October 21, 2019, at about 8:53 am, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff's Station and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Departments Regional Gang Team executed a search warrant at Tovar’s residence located in the 14400 block of Cobalt Rd. Tovar was taken into custody without incident and booked at High Desert Detention Center. A black 9mm Springfield was recovered at the residence and is believed to be the weapon used in the commission of the crime.
