#LASD Latest Updated Tick Fire Information with Evacuation Centers, Road Closures, Alternate Routes and School Closures
Los Angeles County Firefighters, 163 Sheriff’s Deputies, along with many other police agencies, organizations, and volunteers continue to battle and manage the Tick Fire.
Currently our emphasis is mobile field force, evacuations, road closures, public safety and protection of the community.
The fire has burned approximately 4,300 acres and is currently 5 percent contained.
The Sheriff’s Department has evacuated approximately 40,000 residents safely from their homes.
Due to the closures on Highway 14, we ask residents to divert to the following roads and highways:
- Interstate 5
- California State Route 138
- San Francisquito Canyon Road
School Closures
The following schools are closed today:
- Sulphur Spring Union School District
- Castaic Union School District
- Newhall School District
- Both Campuses at College of the Canyons
- Saugus Union School District
- William S. Hart Union High School District
- All Charter Schools
The following are all current road closures:
All Northbound Traffic from Soledad Canyon Rd to the following intersections:
- Mammoth Lane
- Shadow Pines Boulevard
- Rue Entrée
- Prairie Lane
- Deep Creek Drive

- Sierra Highway
- Sand Canyon to Lost Canyon
- Soledad Canyon to Miss Grace Drive

An alternate route if you are traveling from the Lancaster Area includes taking SR-14 NB to WB 138 to I-5

Mandatory Evacuations
The Fire Department has enacted Mandatory Evacuations. We ask residents located in the following areas to evacuate:
• South of the Highway 14, West of Agua Dulce
• North of Placerita Canyon
• Both Sides of Sand Canyon Road

Currently, the Sheriff’s Department is now evacuating residents south of the 14 freeway, from Agua Dulce Canyon Rd to Placerita Canyon.
Please bring:
1. Plastic (Your identification, Credit cards, or cash)
2. Prescriptions
3. Papers or any important documents you might have or need (birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc.)
4. People or Pets
5. Pictures and irreplaceable memorabilia
6. Personal computer of flash drives
All other residents in the area, we ask you remain vigilant and ensure they are prepared for evacuations in the event they become necessary. They are not needed at this time.

Currently, the Sheriff’s Department is evacuating residents. We ask that the residents located to the north of the 14 freeway, south of Vasquez Canyon, East of Whites and Plum Canyon, and west of Agua Dulce, to leave your homes. We ask that the residents south of the 14 freeway, north of Placerita Canyon, west of Sand Canyon and all communities around the Robinson Ranch Golf Course, to leave your homes. Please bring:
1. Plastic (Your identification, Credit cards, or cash)
2. Prescriptions
3. Papers or any important documents you might have or need (birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc.)
4. People or Pets
5. Pictures and irreplaceable memorabilia
6. Personal computer of flash drives
All other residents in the area, we ask you remain vigilant and ensure they are prepared for evacuations in the event they become necessary. They are not needed at this time.
If additional evacuations become necessary, you are reminded to be prepared. You might be away from your residence for a prolonged period of time.
Those city residents who have evacuated are asked to seek shelter at College of the Canyons, Valencia Campus located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, CA 91355.
Small animals can also be taken to Castaic Animal Center at 31044 Charlie Canyon in Castaic CA. 91384.
