RAGAMUFFIN PARADE & TRUNK OR TREAT – The Waldwick Community Alliance and the Borough of Waldwick are proud to sponsor the 2019 Ragamuffin Parade and Trunk or Treat event.  This year both events will be held on Saturday, October 26 (rain date October 27).  The Ragamuffin Parade will start at 10:00 am in front of the Police Officer Christopher Goodell Public Safety Building on East Prospect Street and end at the train station on Hewson Avenue.  The Trunk or Treat will take place following the parade at the Train Station Parking lot.  Decorate the trunk of your car/van/truck with Halloween themed items and bring candy.  This is a fun event for the entire family.  Come out and enjoy free refreshments, pumpkin painting and trick or treating.  The Waldwick Museum of Local History, located in the restored Waldwick Railroad Station, will be open for visitation during the Ragamuffin Parade from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Come in and look at our railroad memorabilia on display as well as our current exhibit honoring Waldwick’s first 100 years.   See FLYER for details.

LAST DAY TO APPLY FOR MAIL-IN BALLOT IN PERSON at the Bergen County Clerk’s office is by 3:00 pm November 4.  The Bergen County Clerk’s office is located at One Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack.
 
GENERAL ELECTION DAY is Tuesday, November 5.  Polls open 6:00 am – 8:00 pm.  SAMPLE BALLOT
 
LEAF COLLECTION BY DISTRICT started October 21 - Leaves will be picked up by voting district.  Voting districts are listed on the home page of the Borough’s website - waldwicknj.org.
 
First round of Leaf Collection by DistrictDistrict 4 – October 23; District 6 – October 25; District 3 – October 30; District 5 – November 1; District 1 – November 6 and District 2 – November 13
 
CURBSIDE BAGGED LEAF COLLECTION another option for residents who wish to rake and bag their own leaves.  This service began October 22.  LEAVES MUST BE IN BIODEGRADABLE PAPER BAGS and placed curbside on Tuesdays by 6:00 am through the end of December.  Leaves in plastic bags will not be picked up.
 
After leaf collection ends, residents must BAG THEIR LEAVES IN BIODEGRADABLE PAPER BAGS and bring to the Recycling Center, 19 Industrial Park during normal business hours (Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 3:00 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am - 1:00 pm) or keep leaves on your property until the Grass-Brush/Branch collection begins in April 2020.
 
HELP SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT RESIDENT NOTIFICATION SYSTEM - The Borough is now using Nixle exclusively for both Police alerts and Borough Community alerts.  We encourage all residents to sign up for this free service as it is one of the tools we are using to inform our residents of what is going on in town.  To sign up, go to our website, www.waldwicknj.org and click on Resident Notification System.  All Police alerts will be sent to the cell phone number provided.  All Borough Community alerts will be sent to the email address provided and include the Friday Waldwick Community News.

SIGN UP FOR RECYCLE COACH to program your streets and you will receive an alert for leaf collection, garbage and recycling, BC Household Hazardous Waste & Shredding events, Borough's Waste Disposal Days, what to recycle and much more.
 
REMINDER – COMMINGLED RECYCLING ONLY (Plastics #1 and #2, glass bottles and tin and aluminum cans) on Wednesday, October 30.  MUST BE CURBSIDE BY 6:00 am
 
**NEW RULES FOR GARBAGE BULK PICK UP:  Borough ordinance permits a maximum of 2 bulk items per garbage pickup to be placed curbside.  Bulk items are limited to household furniture including couches, dressers, mattresses, etc.
 
**NEW RULES FOR GARBAGE COLLECTION: Borough Ordinance permits a maximum of four (4) 50 gallon/50 lbs. containers, or bundles not exceeding 4 ft. and 50 lbs. total.  The ordinance also requires that containers/bundles MUST be curbside by 6:00 am on the day of your pickup and that the garbage containers be removed from the curb by the end of the day.   PIZZA boxes and STYROFOAM are considered garbage.
 
NWBRHC FLU CLINIC SCHEDULE - Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission will host the following flu clinics. Please note, we have received and will be administering both the regular and high-dose (ages 65+ only) vaccines:

  • Monday, October 21th, 10:00 am – 11:30 am, Riley Senior Center, 100 Madison Avenue, Westwood
  •  Wednesday, October 23rd, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, Waldwick Health Center, 22 Whites Lane, Waldwick (behind Ambulance Corps) 
  • Wednesday, October 23rd, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm, Tamaron Association, 8 Tamaron Drive, Waldwick
  •  Thursday, October 24th, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Wyckoff YMCA, 691 Wyckoff Ave, Wyckoff 
  • Wednesday, October 30th, 10:00 am – 11:30 am, The Kentshire, 187 Patterson Avenue, Midland Park
In addition, flu vaccines are administered the second and fourth Wednesday of each month during the Waldwick Adult Health Services Clinic, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, 22 Whites Lane, Waldwick, throughout the entire flu season.
Residents from ANY town may attend our clinics.
 
The only insurance accepted is Medicare Part B. For all insurances other than Medicare Part B, including Medicare Advantage plans such as HMOs, PPOs, etc., the cost is $25 (regular vaccine) or $35 (high-dose vaccine). Cash or check only. Please note, if you are enrolled in a non-Medicare Part B plan (HMO, PPO, etc.) you may wish to receive your vaccine from your primary care physician, where there may be no charge.
 
Medicare Part B participants must bring their Medicare Part B card in order to bill Medicare. Children 3-17 can be vaccinated only if a parent or guardian is present. Some children aged 3-8 may need to receive a second dose. The vaccine for children is preservative-free.

WALDWICK ADULT SERVICES CLINIC - Hosted by our Public Health Nurse, clinics are held the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, Waldwick Health Center, 22 Whites Lane (behind Waldwick Ambulance Corps) Waldwick.  Free blood pressure screenings, health and nutrition information and more are available.
