On Tuesday October 22, 2019 at approximately 7:45 p.m. members of the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety responded to the report of shots fired on Poupard Elementary School property. Upon arrival, all parties involved had fled the scene. Officers determined that the male victim, a 20 year old Harper Woods resident, had been transported to a local hospital.
The incident began with a physical altercation between several males and females at the playground area. An unknown male suspect produced a handgun and fired several shots, shooting the victim in the lower back. There are no suspects in custody at this time. Evidence was collected at the scene and detectives are investigating. The victim is listed in temporary serious condition.
