Drug TAKE BACK day scheduled for this Saturday, October 26, 2019
The Marietta Police Department (MPD) is coordinating a one day drug “TAKE BACK” event with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This Saturday, October 26th from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM Lieutenant Michael Goins of the A.S.S.I.S.T. team will be in front of the MPD to collect your unused and/or unwanted over the counter and prescription medications. Our goal is to collect and destroy left over medicine and prescription drugs from area residents in an attempt to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.
This service is free and open to anyone who can and will participate. There are no forms to complete and the process is incredibly simple. Bring the items you wish to dispose of to the front of the MPD this Saturday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Have you previously flushed unwanted medicine down the toilet, or worse yet, just thrown them away in the trash? Did you know both methods pose safety and health hazards to the community?
We cannot and will not accept needles/sharps, syringes, thermometers, IV bags, bloody or infectious waste, personal care products, empty containers, inhalers, and/or medical equipment.

Did you know we also keep a secure drop box inside the police department that is accessible twenty-four hours a day? If you are unable to make it this Saturday you can always come to the MPD front desk and ask to drop unwanted medicine/drugs into the locked receptacle. The process is fast, safe and completely anonymous.
