INCIDENT: FAILURE TO YIELD

LOCATION: Mariposa/ Eucalyptus Street, in Hesperia

SUSPECT(S): Michael Laki Duvall, 30 years-old, of Victorville



SUMMARY:

On Saturday, September 19, 2019, at 1:49 p.m., Deputy D. Holland stopped a black Honda Accord for California Vehicle Code violations, including failing to stop for a red traffic signal.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Michael Laki Duvall, initially yielded near the intersection of Main Street and Mariposa Road. As Deputy Holland exited his patrol vehicle to make contact with him, Duvall accelerated and fled. During the approximate 8-mile pursuit, Duvall drove at excessive speeds, crossed over double yellow lines, made unsafe turns, failed to stop for traffic signals, and showed complete disregard for public safety. Duvall lost control of the vehicle, spinning out, and causing the left front tire to dislodge. He continued for approximately 2 more miles driving on the rim. Ultimately the vehicle became disabled near the intersection of Palmdale Road and Armargosa Road in Victorville and Duvall was taken into custody without further incident.

Michael Laki Duvall was booked at High Desert Detention Center for evading a police officer with disregard for public safety and 3 outstanding warrants. He is currently being held in lieu of $225,000.00 bail.
