INCIDENT: Criminal Threats

LOCATION: Silverado High School, Victorville

SUSPECT: 16-year old male student


SUMMARY:
On October 18, 2019, Deputy M. Reynoso investigated threats made via social media. The threats involved students attending Silverado High School in Victorville.

During the investigation, it was discovered the suspect, a 16-year old male student at the school, made threats to kill six other students during a group social media conversation. A parent was made aware of the threat and contacted the school. A school administrator contacted law enforcement to begin an immediate investigation.

The investigation revealed the suspect, who suffers from an intellectual disability, was upset about being bullied. The suspect believed the victims to be his friends and became distraught when they began teasing him for various reasons.

A search warrant was served at the suspect’s residence and deputies recovered two firearms and ammunition, belonging to the suspect’s family. The suspect was arrested and issued a citation for criminal threats and was released to his parents. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s, Juvenile Division, for review and determination of filing. Any action taken by the School District will be at their discretion, in accordance with their policies and procedures.
