Shooting in South Park (SRPD#19-14268)

On Friday, October 18, 2019, at 6:30 p.m., officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department were called to the area of De Turk Avenue and the Newhall Bike Path for a shooting.
Before officers arrived, the suspect fled on foot and was last seen running towards Aston Avenue. As the suspect fled the scene, he brandished the firearm at a nearby resident and made threats. He was described as a Hispanic male adult, approximately 25-30 years old, wearing all black.
Officers learned the solo male suspect was involved in an argument with another group of male subjects on the Newhall Bike path in the area of De Turk Avenue. At one point the suspect drew a handgun and fired 4-5 shots at the group of male subjects. All the involved parties fled the scene and were not located by responding officers. Officers did not locate any evidence at the scene to suggest someone was struck by the gunfire.
However, a residence in the 800 block of Aston Avenue was struck by the gunfire. The occupants were not injured.
This incident is currently under investigation.  Anyone who witnessed this incident is encouraged to telephone the Santa Rosa Police Department.
The Santa Rosa Police Department is committed to reducing violence in our city.  We encourage anyone who witnesses criminal activity to immediately call and report the activity to the police department at (707) 528-5222.
