Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announces that a schedule has been provided for street closures during road construction at Bergen Street next week.

The street closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with No Parking signs posted. Next week’s schedule is as follows:

• Monday, 10/21/19 - Muhammad Ali Avenue to 17th Avenue
• Tuesday, 10/22/19 - 17th Avenue to north of 16th Avenue
• Wednesday, 10/23/19 - 16th Avenue to 14th Avenue

These dates are tentative and depend on weather conditions.

Due to the traffic delays resulting from this project, we encourage those traveling in the area to allow extra time and to plan alternate routes.

Director Ambrose urges anyone with information about criminal or suspicious activities to call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
