Shaheym Freeman wanted for attempted murder in Wednesday's Tiger Express, St. Helena Island shots fired incident.

Case History

On Wednesday. October 16, 2019, at approximately 5:20 p.m., Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the Tiger Express, 803 Sea Island Parkway, St. Helena Island, to a report of shots fired in the parking lot. At the scene, deputies learned that, prior to their arrival, the subjects involved in the incident left the area in vehicles. Deputies learned that during the incident gunfire had been exchanged by the occupants of two vehicles. Deputies also learned that both of the vehicles had been struck by projectiles, but, fortunately, no one had been wounded.

Investigation of the Shooting Incident 

Sheriff's Office investigators collected evidence from the scene, interviewed witnesses and gathered information on the identifies of possible subjects involved. Through interviews and evidence obtained from the scene, investigators established that one of the subjects involved in the exchange of gunfire was 18-year-old Shaheym Freeman of St. Helena Island.

Obtaining of Arrest Warrants 

Yesterday, investigators met with a Beaufort County magistrate and presented the facts of the case. After hearing the facts of the case, the magistrate issued warrants for the arrest of Shaheym Freeman for two counts of Attempted Murder and two counts of Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. As of today, Freeman has not been located and remains at large.

Description of Wanted Subject Shaheym Freeman

Shaheym Freeman is described as an African-American male, 18 years of age, 5'09" tall, approximately 150 pounds and was last known to reside on St. Helena Island. Based on the incident at the Tiger Express, Freeman should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone coming into contact with Freeman is urged to call 9-1-1 and report his location, please do not approach him. Attached are photographs of Shaheym Freeman.
