Wilmington Police make arrest in October 12 shooting incident:
A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in an arrest less than a week after a shooting incident that took place on October 12.
On October 12 at approximately 4:17 p.m., police responded to the 900 block of Lombard Street in reference to a shooting that had occurred. Police located a 26-year-old male gunshot victim who arrived at the hospital and was listed in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Charlie Puit of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Puit identified 25-year-old Shyheim Bordrick as a suspect in the case. Arrest warrants were obtained, and Bordrick was located by officers on proactive patrol in the 700 block of East 10th Street on October 15 at approximately 10:11 p.m. Bordrick led officers on a foot pursuit but was ultimately taken into custody without incident.
Bordrick has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Resisting Arrest
Captain Malcolm Stoddard, commander of the Criminal Investigations Division, applauded the work of detectives in bringing an arrest in this case.
“The diligent investigative efforts of our detectives have resulted in an arrest less than a week after this incident,” said Captain Stoddard.
