Assault Battery with Serious Injury (Valley Springs)

(Valley Springs, CA) On October 12th, 2019 at about 11:00 pm Calaveras County Deputies responded to the 100 block of Quail Oaks Rd for report of a physical fight at the Range Bar. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male who was in need of medical attention. This male had been the victim of a serious violent battery. Due to the extent of the victim’s injuries, he was taken to a valley hospital for emergency medical attention.

Calaveras County Sheriff’s Investigators were dispatched to the scene. Investigators processed the scene, conducted interviews, collected physical evidence, and reviewed surveillance video throughout the following day.

On October 13th, 2019 at about 7:00pm Sheriff’s Detectives contacted Suspect Benjamin David Robitaille (38, Valley Springs) as he was leaving a residence in Valley Springs and placed him under arrest.

Benjamin Robitaille was booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges 245 (A)(1) PC (Assault with a Deadly Weapon) 245(A)(4) PC (Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Force/Great Bodily Injury) and 243(D) PC (Battery with Serious Injury) Benjamin Robitaille was released after posting $110,000.00 bail. The investigation is continuing. No further information is available at this time.
