We often talk about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (prescription or otherwise), but what about the dangers of distracted driving?

Distracted driving can include an array of situations such as:
Texting
Looking at your phone for directions
Reaching to the back seat to pick up something for your child
Reading billboards
Applying makeup or number of other distractions.

The young driver of the vehicle pictured was driving while tired. The combination of the heater and their exhaustion caused the driver to fall asleep at the wheel. Fortunately, the driver and their passengers were able to walk away from this terrible accident.

We all live in a fast paced world. Sometimes eating lunch with one hand while driving with the other. But the dangers of looking down for just one second could have fatal consequences. If you're tired, find a well lit, public place to pull over for a few minutes. If you're going somewhere new, look up directions before you hit the road and that one last text message? It can wait.
