Mathew McLaughlin was arrested for felony evading

INCIDENT: Felony Evading
LOCATION: Wildwood Canyon, 4th Street, Yucaipa
SUSPECT: Mathew McLaughlin, age 22 a resident of Riverside
SUMMARY: On October 13, 2019, deputies located three off-road motorcycles driving recklessly on Wildwood Canyon, from Mesa Grande to 4th Street. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicles did not stop and the deputies chased the three riders. The riders split up and two evaded deputies.
The third rider, Mathew McLaughlin, evaded capture until he rode his motorcycle into the wash south of Enoch Avenue, near 7th Street, where his motorcycle became disabled. McLaughlin ran from the disabled vehicle and deputies chased him on foot. He was captured and taken into custody without incident.
McLaughlin was booked into Central Detention Center with bail set at $100,000.
