Fatal Vehicle Accident - West Avenue South / Angelus Street Intersection

The Turlock Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2019, in intersection of West Avenue South and Angelus Street.

At approximately 5:07 p.m., the Turlock Police Department received calls about a vehicle collision involving a SUV and a sedan at the intersection of West Avenue South and Angelus Street. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the sedan, with a female driver and a female passenger both seventeen years old, was traveling west on Angelus Street and had stopped at the 2-way stop sign. The SUV, driven by an adult eighteen year old male, whose name will not be released, was traveling south on West Avenue South, and did not have a stop sign at the intersection. The sedan entered the intersection which resulted in the SUV colliding with the passenger side of the sedan. Bystanders were able to remove the female driver from the sedan and provide CPR, which resulted in her regaining consciousness at the scene. The passenger was pinned in the sedan and had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Turlock Fire Department.

The female driver and passenger, both seventeen years old, sustained serious life threatening injuries. Both were transported via AMR to a local area hospital. A few hours later, officers received information that the passenger succumbed to her injuries. The female driver is currently in stable, but serious condition.

The driver of the SUV did not require medical attention, remained on scene and is being cooperative with the investigation. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this incident, however speed does.
