The Kern County Sheriff's Office would like to warn the public of a phone scam involving a suspect claiming to be associated with Sacred Heart Church. The suspect claims to be a member of the Parish and requests donations of gift cards for other members who are ill or in need. Sacred Hearet Church confirmed the suspect is not related to church and is not authorized to solicit money or donations over the telephone in this manner on their behalf. As a reminder, if you are ever contacted in this way by an organization requesting money or gift cards, Kern County Sheriff's Office encourages citizens to contact organizations directly prior to donating.
