Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are assisting the El Monte Police Department in the investigation of an officer- involved shooting that occurred on the 3500 Block of Santa Anita Avenue, in the city of El Monte on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at approximately 02:45 PM.
Detectives have learned that the El Monte Police Department officers responded to the location regarding a man shooting a gun call. Upon their arrival, they saw the individual and a foot pursuit initiated. During the foot pursuit, the suspect produced a handgun and an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no officers injured at this time.
The suspect’s handgun was recovered at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and there is no other information available at this time.

Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are responding to the 3500 blk of Santa Anita Ave, El Monte, assisting El Monte Police Department in investigating the circumstances surrounding the officer involved shooting which occurred on Saturday, October 12 2019, at approximately 2:44 P.M.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information available at this time.
