#PomonaPD Rescues 17-Year-Old Human Trafficking Victim
On Thursday, October 10, 2019 Pomona Police Department – patrol officers were conducting extra patrol along the Holt Ave. Corridor when they encounter and rescued a 17-year-old female victim of human trafficking. When officers made contact with the victim, they noticed an adult female was supervising her. Officers contacted the LA County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) who responded to the Pomona Police Station and reunited the 17-year-old victim with her family. The adult female who was supervising the victim, was arrested for 236.1(c)PC, Human Trafficking of a Minor.
Additionally, 2 other women were arrested for 653.22(A)PC, Loitering with the Intent to Commit Prostitution.
This investigation is ongoing.
The Pomona Police Department takes a zero tolerance approach to human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Patrol officers regularly conduct extra patrol in high crime areas in response to numerous complaints received from residents and local business owners. The Pomona Police Department continues to pursue the identification and prosecution of human traffickers (pimps) who facilitate the prostitution activity along the Holt Ave. Corridor.
