UPDATE - SCE no longer considering power shutoff. Red Flag conditions to continue through Saturday. NO CURRENT FIRE THREAT TO MALIBU

UPDATE - Fri, Oct 11, 5:20 PM - SCE is no longer considering shutting off power in western Malibu. But residents should stay vigilant as Red Flag fire conditions will continue through end of day Saturday, Oct 12. NO CURRENT FIRE THREAT TO MALIBU.

The National Weather Services (NWS) forecasts that Red Flag fire conditions will continue through the end of the day Friday, October 11 in Malibu on the coast, and through the end of the day Saturday, October 12 in mountain areas of LA and Ventura Counties including the Santa Monica Mountains, with strong gusty winds and very low humidity. 

Southern California Edison (SCE) notified the City that it is no longer considering a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) for western Malibu. However, hazardous fire conditions will continue through the weekend, so residents should stay vigilant.

Monitor local news, including KNX AM-1070 and KBUU 99.1-FM on the radio. 

Get up-to-date weather information from the National Weather Service LA/Oxnard.

Keep your gas tanks full.

Keep electric gates open. 

Know how to manually open your garage door. 

Check on family members and neighbors who may need assistance. 

The City and the LA County Fire Department will continue to monitor fire conditions and the City will provide updates as needed on the website, social media, Nextdoor, and the Emergency and Traffic Telephone Hotline (310-456-9982).

Due to the current Saddleridge Fire in the San Fernando Valley, smoke has been visible in Malibu and L.A. County Public Health Dept. reported unhealthy air quality. That means that all people may begin to experience health effects and sensitive people may experience more serious health effects. Free respiratory masks are available at City Hall (23825 Stuart Ranch Rd. Open M-Th, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Fri 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM) and Bluffs Park, Michael Landon Community Center (PCH and Malibu Canyon Rd. Open 8:00 AM - sunset every day). 

The City and the LA County Fire Department will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they are received. The City will post information on the website (www.MalibuCity.org), social media, Nextdoor, and the Emergency and Traffic Telephone Hotline (310-456-9982).
