Wilmington Police make arrest minutes after bank robbery:

Wilmington Police have arrested and charged a 45-year-old man moments after a bank robbery.

On October 10 at approximately 1:12 p.m., police were notified of a bank robbery that had taken place in the 1000 block of North Union Street. Responding officers quickly located and stopped a vehicle in the area, detaining three passengers.

Further investigation by patrol officers and members of the Criminal Investigations Division determined that one of the passengers, 45-year-old Terase Cason, was responsible for the robbery. The proceeds stolen during the robbery were recovered and returned to the bank.

Cason has been charged with robbery (second degree). He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $4,000 secured bail.

Chief Robert J. Tracy applauded the efforts of patrol officers and detectives in quickly responding to the call, conducting an investigation and closing the case.

“Our officers acted quickly, locating and apprehending this suspect,” said Chief Tracy. “This is a great example of the dedication and diligence of the members of this department.”
