...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS FOR COLORADO FIRE WEATHER ZONE 207 AND UTAH FIRE WEATHER ZONE 491... .Winds will increase across southeast Utah and southwest Colorado this afternoon as a cold and dry air mass moves in behind a strong cold front set to move through this morning. The combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity will lead to critical fire weather conditions across the Four Corners valleys. The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 8 PM MDT this evening.
* AFFECTED AREA...In Colorado, Fire Weather Zone 207 Southwest Colorado Lower Forecast Area. In Utah, Fire Weather Zone 491 Southeast Utah.
* WINDS...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...9 to 14 percent.
* IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for the rapid ignition, growth and spread of fires. Open burning is strongly discouraged.
