Here is your afternoon update regarding the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff. The City of Fairfield is continuing to monitor conditions and will continue to have resources in place to ensure safety for the community.
First off we would like to touch on the topic of water. One of Fairfield's water treatment facilities (NBR) lost power as a result of the PG&E power shut off. The plant is still fully operational with an emergency generator, just at a lower flow rate than normal. Our other water plant is picking up the slack and there are no concerns about supplying water to the community at this time. As a precautionary measure, we are asking residents to conserve water as much as possible until PG&E restores power service. Water quality is unaffected by the power outage.
In a conference call meeting with PG&E officials this afternoon, it is reported that no other outages are planned for the Fairfield area. If you currently have power and it goes out, please be mindful there are other factors that can cause this, and it may be an isolated outage. If this is the case, please report it to PG&E.
If there are any other significant updates we will notify everyone as soon as possible. If there are no other incidents or changes, we will provide a routine update tomorrow morning around 10:00am.
