El Cerrito Power Outage Update

We have setup www.el-cerrito.org/poweroutage and will update with new information as we receive it. You are encourage to share.

PG&E has started shutting off power in communities across Northern California due to escalated fire risk due to high winds and dry conditions. The outage, a preventative measure, started early this morning. Contra Costa County is in stage two of the shut-off schedule, which is scheduled to start at about 8 p.m. today (10/9).

INCREASED PUBLIC SAFETY STAFFING DURING POWER SHUTOFF
El Cerrito Public Safety has made deployment plans for the Public Safety Power Shutoff. The Police and Fire Departments have increased staffing to provide additional resources to affected areas and to ensure that our community remains safe. The Police and Fire Departments will remain open for business during the power shutoff. Please take the time to check in with your neighbors before and during the outage.

PG&E COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTERS
To support customers in areas affected by the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff, PG&E will open community resource centers in several locations beginning Wednesday at 8 a.m. The centers will remain open during the daylight hours only.
Restrooms, bottled water, electronic-device charging, and air-conditioned seating for up to 100 people will be available at the facilities.

• Merritt College LOT B - Leona St., Oakland 94508
• Bishop Ranch Parking Lot - 2600 Camino Ramon, San Ramon 94583

COUNTY RESOURCE CENTER AND CHARGING STATIONS
The County Employment & Human Services department is setting up charging stations for community members during the PG&E power shutoff. These charging stations are available in the lobbies of these locations from 8 am to 5 pm at:
• 1305 Macdonald, Richmond
• 151 Linus Pauling, Hercules

TIPS
• Plan for your family and pet's needs
• Treat intersections as all-way stops, if traffic lights are out.
• Have enough water and non-perishable food. Conserve water.
• Take an inventory of the items you use that rely on electricity.
• People with electric security gates should lock them "open" while power is still on to ensure they can get in and out when it is not. Also, make sure you can get your vehicle out of the garage.
• Keep gas tanks full
• Talk to your family and neighbors and share your plan

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• PG&E says that the power outage will not affect gas service. There is no need to shut off the gas.
• Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) facilities, including Contra Costa Regional Medical and county health centers, will not be impacted by the outage. CCHS will continue to provide services during the outage.
• BART spokesperson says trains will be operating during the power shutoff in our County.
