Two people have been arrested in connection to a double murder that occurred at 2600 Lafayette Road on August 5,2019

COMMUNITY MESSAGE:
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) have arrested 31-year-old Dwayne Lucas and 31-year-old Terrell Redd for outstanding warrants stemming from their alleged involvement in the murders of 25-year-old Shainita Caffey and 26-year-old Miles Cross.
Members from the IMPD VCU-Unit along with our public safety partners at The Westfield Police Department were able to take the two into custody wihtout incident.  Both arrestees have been booked in the Marion County Jail. 


A charge of a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.




 
INCIDENT: Homicide  
 
INCIDENT LOCATION: 2600 Lafayette Rd, Northwest District
 
INDIANAPOLIS -  Just after 3:00 p.m.., on August 5, 2019, Northwest District Officers were dispatched to the 2600 Block of Lafayette Rd, on a report of a person shot.  When officers arrived, they located an adult male and female who had appeared to have been shot.  EMS responded to the scene and transported both victims to an area hospital.  Despite the best life-saving efforts provided by medical staff, the male and female victims died from their injuries.
 
Homicide detectives responded and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The MCCO will release the name of the decedents once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
