Public Safety Power Shutoff expected to impact a significant portion of Santa Rosa starting at midnight tonight. Red Flag Warning issued.

PG&E will begin shutting off power to a significant portion of Santa Rosa at around midnight tonight unless conditions change. PG&E anticipates that restoration of power may begin on Thursday, October 10th at noon. After restoration begins, it could take up to 5 days to completely restore power to all impacted customers across Northern California. Based on forecasted winds, PG&E is expecting significant damage to their system which can delay restoration times. Visit pge.com/pspsupdates to enter your address in their searchable map to determine whether or not your impacted. We are aware that there have been difficulties with their website due to the high volume of use.
 
A Red Flag Warning will be in effect for ALL of Santa Rosa and includes a majority of Sonoma County from Wednesday (10/9) at 5 a.m. to Thursday at 5 p.m.
 
A Wind Advisory will be in effect for the upper elevations of Sonoma County (over 1000 ft) from Wednesday (10/9) a 6 a.m. to Thursday (10/10) at 3 p.m.  Outages are likely to occur unrelated to the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).
 
Santa Rosa Fire Department has extra staffing in place that includes four additional staffed engines and chief officers. The City’s Emergency Operation Center has also been activated.

Multiple intersections are expected to be without power.  Public Safety officials urge drivers to reduce speeds, drive with caution and treat all insections without power as a 4-way stop.
