Press Release: Suspect Arrested for Commercial Burglary

SUSPECT: Joseph Magdi Gaballah, 41-year old male, Transient

Between July 30, 2019 and August 19, 2019, a business on the 300-blk of South Abbott Avenue was burglarized on two separate occasions by an unknown suspect. The suspect stole blank company checks during one of the burglaries.

On July 31, 2019, the suspect cashed two of the business’s stolen checks at banks in the City of San Jose. The suspect attempted to cash a third check but was unsuccessful when the bank employee was made aware that the checks were stolen.

On September 13, 2019, physical evidence obtained during the investigations identified Joseph Magdi Gaballah as the suspect who cashed two checks and attempted to cash a third check stolen during the burglary of the business in Milpitas.

On October 4, 2019, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau and Special Investigations Unit located Gaballah in the City of San Jose. Gaballah was taken into custody without incident for six unrelated arrest warrants. Detectives interviewed Gaballah regarding the Milpitas incidents and he was later transported and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Joseph Magdi Gaballah was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for burglary (2 counts), forgery (3 counts), check forgery (3 counts), and grand theft. Additionally, Gaballah was booked for two unrelated felony arrest warrants for narcotics violations and auto theft totaling $50,000 in bail and four misdemeanor arrest warrants for narcotics violations.
