GTPD Community Bulletin: What You May Have Missed

Gloucester Township Police Department started the week off by having a retirement ceremony for Detective Chuck Dougherty. He dedicated 25 years and 5 months to his community and to the police department. Det. Dougherty joined the Gloucester Township Police Department on May 9th, 1994. He graduated from Class #7 of the Gloucester County Police Academy. He served in the vehicle installation unit, ID Unit, Technical Services Unit, and Special Investigations Unit and Intelligence Services Unit. We wish him a long and healthy retirement.

On Wednesday we enjoyed National Coffee with a Cop Day on Tuesday. GTPD celebrated with residents at our local ShopRite of Laurel Hill with free coffee and donuts. Officers enjoyed conversations with residents and ShopRite employees!

Members of the Gloucester Township Police Department Community Outreach Team also stopped out at Brittany Woods Park, Wednesday with our Community Outreach Truck. The kids showed Officer Marconi how to play video games and told her about school.

We shared how we have begun our Fall Firearm Qualifications at our training facility. Along with completing mandated firearms qualifications, the Training Unit cadre conduct specialized drills with all #GTPD officers for ambush tactics using vehicles, shooting from different angles and positions, as well as officer care and use of tourniquets.

On Friday #GTPD Officer Smith and Szovati joined Chief Winters and Ptl. Harris from Pine Hill Police Department , Officers from Cherry Hill Police Department and around the country in Monroe, NY to honor NYPD Police Officer Brian Mulkeen. Officer Mulkeen made the ultimate sacrifice while pursuing a violent criminal early Sunday morning. We are saddened by his loss and our thoughts and prayers are with all the members of the NYPD and the family and loved ones of Officer Mulkeen.
