East Northport Man Arrested for DWI Under Leandra’s Law
Suffolk County Police last night arrested an East Northport man for driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law with his 5-year-old son in the vehicle.
Ross Nonnenmacher was driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue southbound on Tompkins Street with his 5-year-old son in the vehicle when he was stopped by Second Precinct Patrol officers at approximately 6:43 p.m. Nonnenmacher was arrested and transported to the Second Precinct. The 5-year-old was released to the custody of a family member. The Nissan was impounded.
Second Squad detectives charged Nonnenmacher, 29, of 78 Tompkins St., with Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Conviction – Felony), Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15-Years-Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Required Interlock Device. Nonnenmacher is being held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 6, 2019.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
