NEWARK POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING
Newark, California (Saturday, October 5, 2019)
On Thursday October 3rd at approximately 11:32 p.m., Newark Police Officers responded to a residence on Braidburn Avenue for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 15 year old male, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers and members of the Alameda County Fire Department rendered aid. The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
During the investigation, another 15 year old male juvenile was arrested and the suspected involved weapon was recovered at the scene. Although the circumstances leading to the shooting are still under investigation, there is no on-going danger to the general public as a result of this incident.

Given the fact that this case involved juveniles, we will not be releasing any additional information about them.
Due to the complexity of these types of investigations, they can take a substantial amount of time to complete. We will release more information if it is appropriate to do so at a later date.
