Traffic stop turns up meth in syringe
Deputy Jared Cody of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Jonas Dean Smith, 51, address listed as Johnny Banks Road in Marion, with possession of methamphetamine.
At 2:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, Cody was patrolling on U.S. 70 East and spotted a Ford Fusion with a fictitious tag. Cody stopped the car and found Smith driving. A search of his person turned up .10 fluid ounce of methamphetamine in a syringe.
Marion police officers also issued Smith multiple citations for traffic violations.
